Elite Mentorship Syllabus

PROGRAM OBJECTIVES

  1. Provide high quality mentorship to PTs and PTAs through a virtual platform to develop knowledge base, clinical reasoning, decision-making skills, and gain confidence, as well as engaging in collaborative exchanges with colleagues on complex cases.
  2. Mentorship will be achieved by experienced clinical mentors working with PTs or PTAs to provide feedback and guidance on clinical practice focusing on helping the mentee identify their weakness or “gaps” in their practice and helping the mentee close these “gaps” in order to provide high quality patient care.
  3. Utilize active components of virtual mentoring to provide the most effective means to improve PT and PTA practice such as incorporating evidence-informed learning strategies of self evaluation, goal setting, goal review, discussion of learning strategies, communication of clinical reasoning, and feedback conversations.
  4. Further develop best examination tests and measures based on the patient’s body chart, signs and symptoms, and irritability and apply clinical prediction rules to optimize best treatment options.
  5. Highlight key takeaways from most recent clinical practice guidelines for each body region to provide insight on the most valuable and appropriate evaluation, treatment, and prognosis on a given condition and/or body region.
  6. Develop and instruct effective treatment options based on a patient’s specific signs and symptoms and irritability and use the test-retest model to assess how beneficial a specific intervention is.
  7. Present at least one case presentation in a small group setting with other PT or PTA peers demonstrating thought processes on building the therapeutic alliance, utilizing appropriate examination tests and measures, basing treatment on the patient’s irritability, applying both subjective and objective asterisk assessment both during and within PT sessions, and self reflection on what went well and what you could have done to better improve the overall patient experience.
